RAYS: Parent Advisory Board (PAB)

The RAYS Parent Advisory Board is a group of elected parents volunteering their time to maintain the continued success of the swimmers and the team as a whole. The PAB works closely with the coaches, lending support as needed.

The Parent Advisory Board and RAYS swim team have ongoing events and programs that depend upon the support of all team parents to make them successful. In addition to the Board, our parents are involved within four subgroups: Volunteer Assignments / Tracking, Fundraising, Meet Management, Newsletters and Communications, and Press and Publicity. This is the inaugural year for the Parent Advisory Board and we are working on developing each subgroup. Parents are encouraged to consider joining a subgroup and/or cooperate with volunteering as needed by each group below:

• The Volunteer Assignments / Tracking Group: manages updating and maintaining the swimmer's file folders at the Londonderry pool, along with tracking volunteer assignments and parent participation. They also maintain a checklist for mandatory forms needing to be turned into the PAB (Press Release Form, First Aid Form, and Handbook Agreement), and communicate information as needed to the other subgroups.
• The Meet Management Group: manages all home meets and volunteer needs such as securing Officials, timers, runners, set up and clean up, white board, ribbon distribution, timing systems, computer operations, programs and bake sales. They also manage timers and officials for away meets as needed.
• The Fundraising Group: We have several fundraisers planned for this year, including bake sales, advertising sales for home meet programs, Mack's Apples bake sale, and RAYS logo'd gear sales, to name a few. We're open to suggestions / comments to help this group grow!
• Newsletter Group: This group works with the PAB Secretary to publish RAYS Tales newsletters once or twice a month. They also maintain the two RAYS bulletin boards at both pool sites. In addition, they will co-publish the RAYS yearbook end of year.
• Press and Publicity: This group manages the submissions to local newspapers for our meet results. They maintain a file for pictures of RAYS, not only for newspapers, but for the yearbook and slideshow at Awards Banquet. They also co-publish the yearbook.

The Parent Advisory Board meets on the first Wednesday of the month @ 6:30pm @ the Salem WCWC.

1/4, 2/1, 3/7, 4/4, 5/2, 6/6, 7/4, 8/1, 9/5, 10/3, 11/7, 12/5

 

All parents are welcome to attend. If you have questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact any Coach or member of the Parent Advisory Board for assistance. If a parent wishes to bring any issues before the board, please contact the board president so you may be added to the evenings agenda. We are all here to promote the RAYS and make this an amazing experience for each and every member.

2011 \ 2012 Parent Handbook

There are three documents you need to print out, sign and turn into the PAB. They are "RAYS First Aid and Emergency Medical Care Authorization and Consent Form", "RAYS Photography and Videography Authorization and Release" and the "RAYS Team/Parent Agreement". You will find these forms in the back of the booklet.

Copies of the First Aid forms will be kept at both pool facilities, in the Head Coach's possession, and the PAB files. The Press Release form and Parent Agreement form will be kept with the PAB files, as well.

You can either leave your forms in the PAB file folder at the Londonderry pool OR give them to any Parent Advisory Board member during your childs' practices.
